La Triomphante: Chamber Music for Recorders, Flute and continuo by Louis-Antoine Dornel

Naxos 8.570986
Passacaglia with guest artists Dan Laurin and Eligio Quinteiro

The music on this outstanding disc from Passacaglia is a feast of extravagant chamber music from eighteenth century France. Louis-Antoine Dornel was a free-spirited Parisian organist, and contemporary of Rameau: full of harmonic invention and colour, Dornel’s musical language breaks free of the conservative French musical tastes, and looks instead to the virtuosic Italian models of Corelli and Vivaldi, which were set to take northern Europe by storm.

‘Breathtaking…this performance really shows why Passacaglia has developed such a reputation as exponents of French baroque repertoire’
The Recorder Magazine, Spring 2009

The perfect accompaniment to a decadent summer!
