One of Passacaglia’s most enduringly popular programmes, this thoroughly entertaining collection of music contains works by JS Bach (including music from his famous Coffee Cantata), Telemann and Handel, as originally performed in the sociable atmosphere of the eighteenth century coffee house. And a comic look at the intoxicating effects of coffee in France, as seen through the eyes of Marin Marais and Nicolas Bernier.

 Historically the recorder was the favourite instrument to illustrate the theme of love in music. In this programme, Passacaglia collects together some of the most beautiful music from the sixteenth to the eighteenth centuries featuring recorders, flute, gamba and harpsichord, celebrating the many facets of love and courtship. This varied programme includes selected music by Bassano, Purcell, Arne, Handel, Telemann, Couperin and Lully. With guest soprano.
